| Caution About Swimming at the Beach in Summer |

1. Do not swim in non-swimming area
In non-swimming area, there are always submerged reef, float grass, silt and swirling flow. Any carelessness may cause accident. Therefore, before swimming, please make good investigation and keep away from float grass, submerged reef, silt and swirling flow.
2. Do not swim after drinking
After drinking, the glucose reserved in the body will be consumed greatly and hypoglycemia will appear. Besides, alcohol can restrain the normal physiological functions of liver and interfere the transformation and reserve of glucose, causing accident. Additionally, alcohol will affect the brain’s judgment, which increases opportunities of swimming accident.
3. Do not swim after strenuous exercise
Swimming immediately after strenuous exercise will add burden to the heart. Sharp dropping of body temperature will weaken the resistibility and cause cold, faucitis, etc.
4. Do not swim for too long time
The skin has three reaction stages to the cold stimulation. The first stage: after entering the water, stimulated by the water coldness, the blood vessel constricts and the skin is pale. The second stage: staying for a while in the water, blood stream expands, the skin appears pinky from pale and the body becomes warm. The third stage: staying for too long time, gooseflesh and shiver appear on the skin. It is the contraindication stage of swimming in summer. Swimmer should be out of the water in time. The swimming time should be no more than one and a half to two hours.
5. Patients with hypertension and heart disease should not swim
It is hard to control the intractable hypertension. Swimming has potential risk to cause apoplexy. Patients with congenital heart diseases, serious coronary artery disease, rheumatic valvular disease, serious arrhythmia, etc must not swim.
Besides, for patients with tympanitis, acute eye conjunctivitis and dermatosis, swimming will aggravate illness and cause bad reactions.
6. Do not ignore sanitation after swimming
After swimming, please wipe off scale deposit on the body with soft towel or wash with fresh water, drop chloramphenicol or boric acid eye drops, and blow the nose. If the water enters the ears, please discharge the water from ears by the method of same-side jumping. And then, take physical exercises and massage or have a rest for 15-20 minutes in the sun, avoiding rigescence and fatigue of muscle group. |
